The history of the Gangelter

According to an old legend (see photo below) the Gangelter looked for the "pin" a few hundred years ago to lock the city gate.

Since they couldn't find him and had to protect themselves from the enemy, they took a carrot as a "pin".

What they did not consider was that the geese loved the carrot and devoured it.

As a result, the gate was now open and the enemy could enter unhindered.

That is why the Gangelter are still often called "Muhrepinn" today and the goose with the carrot in its beak is one of the symbols of our town.
